Activism isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. We live in love and compassion, for the animals and for each other. BAAL would be nothing without community; each of you is the reason we exist.

The BAAL Community

Real change doesn’t come from individual behavior. If you want to go far, you must go together. Fostering a healthy, vibrant community is important to us, which is why we organize social gatherings. We strive to bring people closer, build solidarity, and create a support system where activists can heal, grow, socialize, and strategize.

Sometimes we keep it simple, like grabbing dinner after a protest, but we also organize straight edge parties, hangouts, beach days, and actions of solidarity. We even occasionally hit up the occasional comedy club to get a few laughs in, while supporting our favorite vegan comedian. If you are in San Diego County or anywhere in Southern California, we'd love for you to join us!

Though our roots are in San Diego, our fight for animal liberation has no geographical bounds. We are working hard to branch out beyond Southern California and into the world, creating a support network that goes far beyond our local community. Our intention is to turn this local community into a global movement, ensuring that wherever there is an industry to be challenged, there is a BAAL chapter ready to put ourselves on the front line in the fight for justice. 

Building community and friendship is essential for activist's ability to stay in the movement. Sometimes the screams of innocent animals echo in our heads, but with the support of a strong community, we have more power to pull from to stand up for what we believe in.
